BeyondSea Project

Article for BeyondSea

Shipping is about much more than routing and managing the loading of goods and people. Every voyage involves the generation of hundreds of pieces of data. Some of them? From information relating to schedules, passengers, vehicles and cargo transported, real-time data to geolocate and analyse the punctuality of vessels, as well as all data relating to fuel transported, typologies, refuelling, overruns, optimal speed vs. consumption, among others.

The reality for maritime companies is that they face a great challenge: to have an efficient tool that centralises all this data to enable analysis and strategic decision-making.

For this reason, the Spanish company Baleària, dedicated to the maritime transport of passengers, vehicles and goods, together with Zeus, a technology company specialising in data capture, analysis and visualisation, and DataSpurs, an expert in data management, have developed a data project under the name of the BeyondSea Project. A control panel that comprehensively monitors its fleet of ships, improving operational efficiency, resource management and, therefore, strategic decision-making. A tool where the main data is worked in real time, giving visibility of the entire company to the different users that make it up.

Transforming data

Data analysis is not just a tool, but a cornerstone of decision making and Baleària has demonstrated a serious commitment to efficient data management, recognising that valuable information resides in every detail of its operations. The implementation of these advanced systems enables the capture, storage and analysis of data in real time, facilitating agile and accurate decision-making.

Sustainability commitment

Furthermore, this project not only increases internal efficiency but also improves the customer experience, positioning Balearia as an innovative leader in the industry. This transparency in data management allows it to effectively communicate its environmental initiatives. Information on fleet sustainability, showing efforts to reduce carbon footprint and other practices are widely accepted by passengers and help build a more ethical customer experience.

Incidence response

The implementation of the BeyondSea project also contemplates giving space to the resolution of incidents through mechanisms that make it possible to consult which vessels have the most incidents and, if they do, to create a chat where they can comment on them and find out if they have had any type of economic impact. In this way, the safety and efficiency of the company’s problem solving is improved.

In conclusion, the creation of the BeyondSea Project has been a major challenge that represents a bold step into the future of maritime management.

The combination of Zeus’ expertise in data visualisation and digitisation, with DataSpurs’ efficient Cloud Data Integration solutions, as well as Baleària’s ambitious and innovative vision has resulted in a comprehensive solution that not only solves operational challenges, but also lays the foundations for a more efficient, sustainable, innovative and digital maritime industry.

The project is aligned with the “Plan for the modernisation and competitiveness of the tourism sector” of the “National Plan for the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience of Spain”, and with the “Digital Transformation Plan” and is co-financed with Next Generation Funds from the European Union.
